THV is the abbreviation for THE HORSE’S VOICE – these saddles were initially created by the founders of the BALANCE Saddle Company – because they had a very true understanding of what optimal biomechanics was. They listened to horses, and gave them a voice, and a choice in what they wanted.
They observed that horses movement when under saddle was very different and hugely compromised compared with how they moved without a saddle. After trying virtually every saddle they could find, they realised that if they wanted a saddle that truly supported horses comfort and the ability to move freely and express their highest biomechanical potential for health, happiness and performance, they would need to create it themselves.
The BALANCE saddle has now been rebranded as THV -The Horses Voice Saddles – where every horse’s voice is listened to and they choose their own saddle and padding arrangement.
As a BALANCE and THV Functional Saddling Consultant, I know that not everybody is in a situation to purchase a new saddle – so I use my training to see how we can help to improve people’s existing saddles as much as I can.
As a trainer, once I learned about saddling and what horses needs were, I realised that many training and behavioural problems were a result of saddles that were not comfortable or did not allow horses to move optimally. Hours of trying to train a horse how to move correctly could be eliminated as soon as we used a saddle that allowed the horse to move unhindered.
